Do you think television programs, movies, and video games influence young people’s behavior?
Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion
What do you think if there is no television programs, movies, and video games in today’s life? Of course, our life would be boring because there would be no more choices of entertainment for us. However, some people argue that those kinds of entertainment have influenced young people's behavior in a negative way. Personally, I agree with the statement that they have influenced young people's behavior. In the following paragraphs I will explain the negative influences of television program to youngsters.
First of all, young people have a tendency to imitate the behavior of actors or actresses that are shown on the television. We know that many celebrities perform such bad habits, for example: they are so consumptive and so glamorous. Many teenagers, now, like to follow those bad habits. They like to follow their favorite actor/actress life style. For example, they always buy new clothes or new cell phones that are similar with the ones that belong to their idols. Moreover, they prefer to live glamorous nowadays, for example they prefer to hang out in shopping mall or movie theaters, rather than to study or to help their parents to do household task at home.
Another drawback of television program is that there is a degradation of attitudes in our society. For example, in my country, Republic of Nirvana, we often hear and see that there are many male and female youngsters who live together without getting married. Of course, it is because of influence of western movies, or even local soaps that show some young couple in college or university do the same thing. The worst scenario is that there are some young girls who are not ashamed of being pregnant before married.
To sum up, it is clear then from the examples above that television program will give many negatives impacts to youngster if they do not filter the content and message of the program wisely. It is only when youngster imitate some positives messages of the program that the television program will benefit them.
